Seizoen 3 van The Last of Us is officieel goedgekeurd door HBO. The Last of Us, gebaseerd op de populaire videogamefranchise van Naughty Dog, ging in januari 2023 in première op HBO. De serie is gemaakt door Craig Mazin en Neil Druckmann en heeft Pedro Pascal als Joel Miller en Bella Ramsey als Ellie in de hoofdrollen.
Seizoen 2 van The Last of Us gaat aanstaande maandag 14 april in première op HBO Max Nederland. HBO heeft nu aangekondigd dat seizoen 3 van The Last of Us officieel groen licht heeft gekregen vóór de première van seizoen 2. Een releasedatum voor seizoen 3 is nog niet vastgesteld.
Craig Mazin, bedenker, uitvoerend producent, schrijver en regisseur zei:
“We approached season two with the goal of creating something we could be proud of. The end results have exceeded even our most ambitious goals, thanks to our continued collaboration with HBO and the impeccable work of our unparalleled cast and crew. We look forward to continuing the story of The Last of Us with season three!”
Druckmann voegde toe:
“To see The Last of Us brought to life so beautifully and faithfully has been a career highlight for me, and I am grateful for the fans’ enthusiastic and overwhelming support. Na vijf jaar vrede na de gebeurtenissen van het eerste seizoen haalt het collectieve verleden van Joel en Ellie hen in, waardoor ze in conflict komen met elkaar en een wereld die nog gevaarlijker en onvoorspelbaarder is dan de wereld die ze achterlieten.
De terugkerende cast van seizoen twee bestaat uit Pedro Pascal als Joel, Bella Ramsey als Ellie, Gabriel Luna als Tommy en Rutina Wesley als Maria. Eerder aangekondigde nieuwe castleden bestaat uit Kaitlyn Dever als Abby, Isabela Merced als Dina, Young Mazino als Jesse, Ariela Barer als Mel, Tati Gabrielle als Nora, Spencer Lord als Owen, Danny Ramirez als Manny en Jeffrey Wright als Isaac. Ook is Catherine O’Hara te zien in het nieuwe seizoen.
Seizoen 2 is geschreven en geproduceerd door Craig Mazin en Neil Druckmann. Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan en Evan Wells dienen ook als uitvoerende producenten, terwijl Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint en Naughty Dog de bedrijven zijn die betrokken zijn bij de productie.
The Last of Us seizoen 2 gaat op 14 april 2025 in première op HBO Max.
