Komt er een Dune: Prophecy seizoen 2 op HBO Max? Nu de finale van seizoen 1 van Dune: Prophecy komende zondag wordt uitgezonden, heeft HBO aangekondigd dat de show terugkeert voor een tweede seizoen.
Het eerste seizoen ging in première in november 2024. De HBO-serie, een prequel op de Dune-filmserie van Denis Villeneuve, is afkomstig van showrunner Alison Schapker. Het heeft Emily Watson in de hoofdrol als moeder-overste Valya Harkonnen en Olivia Williams als eerwaarde moeder Tula Harkonnen.
Tijdens een persconferentie op donderdag 19 december 2024 zei Schapker:
“I am thrilled to be able to announce that HBO is picking us up for a Season 2. We are so thrilled and grateful for their support, for our partners at Legendary, and, most of all, that we get to continue working with these extraordinary people in front of the camera, behind the camera, that we get to keep telling this story that we care so deeply about, and get to continue building out our corner of the Dune universe. That is our very exciting news.”
Max’s Sarah Aubrey zei ook:
“Dune: Prophecy has captivated audiences around the globe thanks to the visionary leadership of showrunner and executive producer Alison Schapker, who will continue to guide this grand tale of truth and power. We are incredibly grateful to our partners at Legendary and to our extraordinary cast and crew for their service to the Imperium. We’re excited to collaborate with this team again to see what they have in store.”
Legendary Television’s Jason Clodfelter voegde toe:

10.000 jaar vóór de hemelvaart van Paul Atreides volgt Dune: Prophecy twee zusjes Harkonnen terwijl ze strijden tegen krachten die de toekomst van de mensheid bedreigen, en de legendarische sekte vestigen die bekend zal worden als de Bene Gesserit.
Dune: Prophecy is geïnspireerd op de roman Sisterhood of Dune, geschreven door Brian Herbert en Kevin J. Anderson, en het eerste seizoen bestaat uit zes afleveringen. De show heette oorspronkelijk Dune: The Sisterhood. Het project volgt op het enorme succes van Dune: Part Two, dat wereldwijd $710 miljoen opbracht aan de kassa.
Voor de serie fungeert Alison Schapker (Fringe) als showrunner en uitvoerend producent.
In de serie zijn er rollen voor Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jihae , Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning en Yerin Ha.
Diane Ademu-John heeft de serie mede ontwikkeld en is uitvoerend producent. Anna Foerster (Outlander) produceerde en regisseerde meerdere afleveringen, waaronder de eerste. Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns en Jon Spaihts zijn uitvoerende producenten met auteur Brian Herbert, samen met Byron Merritt en Kim Herbert als uitvoerende producenten voor het estate van Frank Herbert. Auteur Kevin J. Anderson fungeert als coproducent.
